Army troops deployed in Rawalpindi for six months
RAWALPINDI: The federal government has authorised the deployment of three companies of the Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi for six months for “sensitive security duties”, according to an Interior Ministry notification issued on August 21.
The deployment was approved under Article 245 of the Constitution following a request from the Punjab Home Department.
According to the notification, the troops will be deployed to avoid any “undesirable situation” and respond effectively to unforeseen circumstances in coordination with the district administration.

The deployment will take effect immediately and remain in place for six months.
Article 245 provides for the deployment of the armed forces in aid of civil power.
