Privatization Committee Inaugural Session on Saturday

The inaugural session of the Privatization Committee of the Federal Cabinet will convene on Saturday with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in the Chair.

The meeting of the Committee was aimed at discussing the privatization policy framework and evaluate the progress of the current program.

Sources informed that a comprehensive review of the existing privatization program’s advancement will take place to pinpoint areas for enhancement and streamline associated procedures.

At present, 25 state-owned entities spanning various sectors are designated for privatization, encompassing prominent entities in aviation, finance, real estate, and industry.

The ongoing privatization program includes state-owned electricity distribution companies and significant financial institutions like the House Building Finance Corporation and First Women Bank Limited.

Notable entities on the privatization roster include Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Baloki, Haveli Bahadur, Gaddu, and Nandipur power plants in the energy sector.

The privatization initiative extends to industrial enterprises such as Pakistan Engineering Company and Sindh Engineering Limited.
