Public Opinion Favors Death Penalty in Pakistan

In a recent Gallup Pakistan poll, public sentiment regarding the death penalty in Pakistan has been unveiled, indicating a significant inclination towards its support among the populace.

The survey, conducted between February 29 and March 15, 2024, engaged over one thousand participants across the nation, offering insights into prevailing attitudes towards the death penalty.

According to the findings, a substantial majority of Pakistanis express support for the death penalty, with five out of ten individuals endorsing its implementation.

Conversely, four out of ten respondents voice opposition to it.

Gallup Pakistan’s report highlights that 45 percent of respondents exhibit full support for the death penalty law in Pakistan, considering it appropriate for the punishment of individuals involved in serious crimes.

Conversely, 39 percent strongly oppose it, expressing steadfast reluctance to endorse it under any circumstances.

Intriguingly, 11 percent of survey participants maintain a neutral stance on the issue, neither explicitly supporting nor opposing the death penalty.

Furthermore, 5 percent refrained from divulging their opinion, opting to remain silent on the matter.
