Women Sentenced for Using Fake Currency on Karachi Bus

The Women Guilty of Circulating Fake Notes was Relased upon Providing a Surety of Rs 10,000 Each.

A local court in Karachi has sentenced two women to one year in prison for using fake currency on the People’s Bus service.

The Additional District and Sessions Court found the women guilty of circulating fake currency in Karachi and ordered them to be released upon providing a surety of Rs 10,000 each.

According to the prosecution, the two women were arrested on January 21, 2023, and were found to be in possession of six fake 1000 rupee notes.

Although the penalty for circulating counterfeit currency is seven years, the court took into account the women’s poor backgrounds and sentenced them to one year each.

The court expressed hope that the two women would become law-abiding citizens and refrain from engaging in such activities again.

The fake currency notes have been ordered to be handed over to the State Bank.
