Pakistan Law Minister Resolves To Address Missing Persons Issue

Pakistan Law Minister Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the long-standing issue of missing persons.

Speaking at a news conference alongside Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, he announced that a reconstituted committee will be formed, with parliamentary representation, to tackle this complex issue.

A Complex Issue

The Law Minister acknowledged that the issue of missing persons in Pakistan, spanning over four decades, cannot be resolved overnight. He emphasized the need for a political solution with consensus, in addition to legal measures.

Progress Made

The Information Minister highlighted that the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances has resolved 7,900 cases out of over 10,000 reported missing persons cases.

Political Landscape

The Information Minister also addressed the recent by-election results, stating that they validate public confidence in PML-N policies.

He asserted that people have rejected PTI’s narratives of conspiracy, hatred, and anarchy, and instead align with PML-N’s vision for development and prosperity.

Economic Stability

Attaullah Tarar credited the incumbent government with bringing Pakistan back on track after the previous PTI government pushed the country towards international isolation.

He cited reports from international financial institutions and rating agencies endorsing the present government’s policies aimed at achieving economic stability.

Economic Achievements

The Minister highlighted several economic achievements, including a surplus current account, increased foreign direct investment, and a growth in IT exports, thanks to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s prudent economic policies.
