Government Launches Margalla Trail Patrol for Enhanced Security

Initiative Aims to Protect Visitors, Especially Foreigners, and Preserve Beauty of Margalla Hills

In a bid to enhance security and preserve the natural beauty of Margalla Hills, the government has launched the Margalla Trail Patrol.

According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, this initiative is particularly aimed at ensuring the safety of foreign visitors who frequent these popular hiking trails.

The security cover will include trail bikes, horse patrols, and foot patrols to provide an added layer of protection for visitors.

This move comes after recent sightings of leopards and venomous snakes in the area, which raised concerns about public safety.

Earlier, the Wildlife Department confirmed the presence of five leopards in the Islamabad hiking trails and National Park, leading to the closure of Trail 3 for public safety.

The administration has warned that while the leopards are not typically aggressive, they could become dangerous if provoked.

The Margalla Trail Patrol is a welcome move to balance the need for conservation and tourism.

The initiative will not only ensure the safety of visitors but also help protect the fragile ecosystem of the Margalla Hills.
