The European Union’s Air Safety Committee has decided to maintain its ban on Pakistani airlines, including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), from operating in EU skies.

The decision comes after a recent evaluation raised significant safety concerns, which were not adequately addressed by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).

Despite the PCAA’s corrective action plan, the EU committee opted to continue monitoring the situation and requested regular progress reports.

The committee also urged EU member states to prioritize inspections of Pakistani aircraft to ensure international safety standards.

The decision is seen as a setback for PIA’s operations in Europe.

The Pakistani airlines has been banned from EU skies since 2020, and this latest decision prolongs its restriction.
