DRAP Warns of Counterfeit Antibiotic Medication in Pakistan

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued a warning about a counterfeit antibiotic medication, Furoxime suspension 100mg/5ml, currently circulating in the market.

The drug has been confirmed to be substandard and dangerous by the Drug Testing Laboratory Rawalpindi.

The packaging of the counterfeit drug displays a fake address in Karachi, and its use can lead to serious reactions and harm to patients.

In response, DRAP has ordered the seizure of all stocks of Furoxime suspension from the market and directed that the remaining stock be quarantined immediately.

Consumers are advised to stop using this product immediately and contact their physician or healthcare provider if they experience any issues after taking or using this drug.

Any incidents should be reported to the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan/National Pharmacovigilance Centre.

DRAP emphasizes the importance of procuring therapeutic goods from licensed pharmacies and authorized retail outlets, and verifying the authenticity and condition of products before purchasing them.
