The lawsuit claimed Siri activated accidentally during private conversations, violating user privacy.
Plaintiffs argued Apple used sensitive recordings for targeted advertising – allegations the company denies.
“Apple never used Siri data for marketing profiles or ads,” stated a January company release.
Eligible users can file claims until July 2, 2025, with payments up to $20 per device (maximum 5 devices).
Claimants must prove device ownership and may need to describe unintended activations.
This voice assistant privacy settlement stems from 2019 reports that contractors reviewed private conversations from Apple, Amazon and Google assistants.
Apple has since implemented on-device processing to enhance privacy.
The final approval hearing occurs August 1, with payments expected by year-end.
Affected users should check emails for claim instructions or visit the settlement website.
