Imran Khan Seeks Case Against CM Maryam, Jail Officials

RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, through his counsel Tabish Farooq, has filed an application with the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, seeking registration of a case against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the superintendent of Adiala jail and six others.

The plea also names ASP Zainab and SHO Aizaz as respondents. It alleges that Mr Khan is being denied basic prisoner facilities on the directives of the Punjab chief minister. The petition claims his cell lacks lighting, keeping him in “complete darkness”, and that he has not been allowed family meetings despite court orders.

It further cites Maryam Nawaz’s past remarks against the PTI founder Imran Khan, claiming that the current treatment is being carried out on her instructions. The application also accuses jail and police officials of harassing Mr Khan’s relatives in violation of the Lahore High Court’s directions.

The petitioner requested that a criminal case be registered against Ms Nawaz and the other eight respondents.
