TASHKENT: Uzbekistan’s youth achieved a historic milestone on Wednesday by setting a Guinness World Record in the field of engineering and robotics at the New Uzbekistan Park, marking the country’s first such recognition in this domain and the largest in Central Asia.

At the event, 2,000 young engineers manufactured and activated 1,946 mini-robots within 25 minutes, surpassing the previous record set in India in 2023, when 1,459 participants completed a similar task.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville attended the event, supervised the process, and officially confirmed the result. Following the verification of the robots, a certificate was presented to Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kungirotboy Sharipov.

Symbolic gift for Independence Day

The large-scale initiative, organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, brought together students from Tashkent universities, institutions under the Presidential Educational Institutions Agency, and young engineers, including participants with disabilities.

Before the record attempt, the gathering performed the national anthem, underscoring the spirit of unity and national pride. Organisers said the participation of 2,000 young people symbolised the strength of Uzbekistan’s younger generation and served as a gift for the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
