Pakistan Yet to Decide on Troop Deployment for Gaza Peace Force: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said Pakistan’s leadership would decide whether to send personnel to a proposed international peace force for Palestine, reaffirming that the country’s stance on the issue remains unchanged.

Addressing a press conference, Ishaq Dar defended Pakistan’s support for the Gaza peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump, clarifying that any ground operations in Palestine would primarily be undertaken by local law enforcement authorities.

“Indonesia has offered 20,000 personnel for the peace force,” he said, adding that Pakistan would consider its own contribution when the time comes.

“I’m sure Pakistan will also decide — the leadership will make the decision — and we have conveyed that whatever arrangement is made should be documented at the United Nations,” he said.

Dar further noted that while the UN already has an established peacekeeping framework, the proposed mission would be a special force dedicated solely to Gaza.
