Federal, AJK Leadership Invite JAAC to Resume Talks
ISLAMABAD: The federal government and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) administration have formally invited the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) to return to negotiations, urging protesters to end violence and resolve differences through dialogue.
Addressing a joint press conference alongside AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the AJK government had already accepted 90 per cent of JAAC’s demands in the presence of federal representatives.
“We gave assurances that these demands would be implemented. Talks continued for 12 hours,” he said. “But deadlock occurred over two points — abolishing seats reserved for migrants and reducing the number of ministries — both of which require constitutional amendments.”
Tariq Fazal said peaceful protests began on September 29, but regretted that demonstrations had now turned violent.
“Violence is not the solution to any issue. We did not walk away from talks. Our door remains open.”

AJK PM Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq echoed the call for restraint:
“Only the state has the authority to use organised force. If anger is misused, it leads to chaos, anarchy and loss of life. We urge JAAC — 90 per cent of your demands have already been approved. For the remaining 10 per cent, come back to the table.”
