PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has accused PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan of playing a central role in creating rifts within the party.

In a video message after meeting Imran Khan at Adiala jail, Gandapur said it was his first interaction with the former prime minister in a long time. He claimed that ahead of the provincial budget, cabinet changes had been discussed with Asad Qaiser, Shahram Tarakai and later with Imran Khan himself, after which ministers Aqibullah Khan and Faisal Tarakai resigned in line with those decisions.

The chief minister alleged that Khan’s sisters were regularly meeting him in jail and conveying instructions on his behalf. Gandapur said he had informed the PTI founder about a “campaign” branding him and other provincial leaders as traitors, adding that Aleema Khan was promoting the minus-Imran narrative which had demoralised party workers.

He further alleged that some vloggers targeting PTI leaders were in touch with Aleema Khan, while journalist Hafeezullah Niazi and his relatives had been writing pieces referring to her as “Prime Minister Aleema Khan.”

“If Khan Sahib appoints a family member as chairperson, we have no objection,” Gandapur said, but warned that divisive campaigns were damaging the party. He also accused Aleema’s son of being present at one of the May 9 violence sites but securing bail swiftly, while others faced punishment.

Gandapur went on to allege that Aleema Khan was being “facilitated” by intelligence agencies, adding: “I have told my leader the truth as proof of my loyalty.”

Responding to the allegations outside Adiala jail on Tuesday, Aleema Khan said Imran Khan had laughed while narrating Gandapur’s claims to her. She said the KP CM had told Khan she was linked with intelligence agencies, sought to become party chairperson, and controlled PTI’s social media.
