RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police have intensified security measures across the city in anticipation of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) announced march toward Islamabad on October 10.

City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani chaired a high-level meeting with senior officers to review the law and order situation and direct preparations to maintain peace.

The CPO warned that no road blockades, disruptions to traffic, or violent activities under the guise of protest would be tolerated.

“Those who violate the law will be dealt with strictly,” he said, adding that any attacks on public property or law enforcement personnel would invite firm legal action.

Ahead of the march, the Islamabad administration has begun placing shipping containers at the Faizabad Interchange, a site previously used by TLP for sit-ins, according to official sources.

Authorities have also issued instructions to vacate hotels along Murree Road and nearby areas as a precautionary measure.

All routes linking Islamabad and Rawalpindi remain open for now, with officials saying any decision on closures will depend on how the situation evolves.
