PM Shehbaz meets Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku
BAKU: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, at the Presidential Palace in Baku today. Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was also present during the meeting.
The Prime Minister thanked President Aliyev for inviting him to attend Azerbaijan’s Victory Day celebrations, marking the nation’s historic triumph in the 44-day Karabakh Liberation War against Armenia.
Extending warm felicitations to the government and people of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister said that the victory of Azerbaijan “serves as a beacon of hope for oppressed peoples struggling for self-determination, including those in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.”
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and agreed to further enhance multi-faceted cooperation in areas including politics, trade and investment, energy, connectivity, and defence.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended an invitation to President Ilham Aliyev to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience, which the Azerbaijani President graciously accepted.
The Prime Minister lauded President Aliyev for signing the historic peace agreement with Armenia earlier this year, describing it as a milestone for regional stability. President Aliyev, in turn, thanked Pakistan for its consistent and principled support to Azerbaijan’s just struggle against the illegal occupation of the Karabakh region, and appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in South Asia.
