Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Visits Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

Naqvi hails Sri Lankan cricketers’ courage, says entire nation grateful for their trust

RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Interior and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday visited the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to review security arrangements ahead of the ongoing Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan.

He was accompanied by Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fredd Sereviratne and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry. During the visit, Naqvi inspected security measures in and around the stadium and met with law enforcement personnel deployed on duty.

The interior minister appreciated the dedication of security officials and urged them to continue performing their duties with diligence and commitment.

Mohsin Naqvi also met members of the Sri Lankan cricket team during their practice session and personally thanked each player for continuing their Pakistan tour despite recent security concerns.

“Your security is our responsibility,” Naqvi assured the visiting players.
“Your decision to stay and play in Pakistan is a victory for peace and a defeat for terrorism. The people of Pakistan will always remain grateful for your courage and friendship,” he added.

He further said that the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has entered “a beautiful new chapter that the Pakistani nation will always remember.”

Naqvi also met Pakistani players and observed their practice session at the stadium.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fredd Sereviratne expressed gratitude and confidence in Pakistan’s arrangements, saying,

“I have served in many countries, but I consider Pakistan my second home. We are completely satisfied with the security measures.”

The visit was also attended by Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Inspector General Islamabad Police, and senior officials from various law enforcement agencies.
