Bollywood Legend Dharmendra Passes Away at 89

Veteran actor dies in Mumbai after hospitalisation; fans and stars mourn cinematic icon

Bollywood legend Dharmendra, affectionately known as “He-Man,” has died at the age of 89 in Mumbai. He was admitted earlier this month to Breach Candy Hospital with breathing difficulties, but was unable to recover and passed away on Monday morning.

His death has sparked widespread grief across the film industry and among fans, marking the end of an era in Indian cinema. Over a career spanning more than six decades, Dharmendra delivered memorable performances in classics such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, and Phool Aur Patthar, leaving a lasting legacy on generations of moviegoers.

His final film, Ikkis, is scheduled for release in theatres on December 25, making it a posthumous tribute to his enduring talent.

Among those paying their respects were his wife, Hema Malini, and daughter, Esha Doel, who arrived at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle. Several top Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Sanjay Dutt, also attended the cremation to honor his memory.
