Pakistan and Indonesia Sign Multiple Agreements to Boost Bilateral Cooperation
Pakistan and Indonesia on Tuesday signed a series of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including halal trade, small and medium enterprises, higher education, health, narcotics control, and archival collaboration.
The signing ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, attended by President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Both leaders witnessed the formal exchange of documents between the respective ministers.
A key agreement was signed between Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) for reciprocal recognition of certificates and degrees. The documents were exchanged between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and his Indonesian counterpart Brian Yuliarto.
Both countries also signed the “Indonesian Aid Scholarship Programme” agreement, with the documents exchanged between Indonesian Foreign Minister Sagyono and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Cooperation in halal trade and certification was formalized through an MoU exchanged between the Indonesian foreign minister and Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan.
In the area of SMEs, Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain and the Indonesian foreign minister exchanged documents related to facilitating small and medium enterprise development and business growth.
An MoU on cooperation in archives was also signed, with the exchange carried out between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sagyono. Both sides also signed an MoU aimed at curbing drug trafficking and enhancing cooperation against narcotics.
For the health sector, the MoU was exchanged between Indonesia’s foreign minister and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal.
Concluding the ceremony, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, stating that the newly signed agreements will help advance practical collaboration in trade, education, security, and social development in the coming years.
