LAHORE: Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged gang rape of two sisters in Lahore’s Sundar area, officials said. A fifth suspect remains at large.

The incident reportedly involved five men identified as Qasim, Umair Jatt, Ali Akbar Wattoo, Zia-ur-Rehman, and Ahmed Raza. Following a complaint by the victims’ mother, police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Authorities said the victims have been transferred to a hospital for medical examination, and further legal proceedings will follow once the medical reports are completed. Police confirmed that raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect.

The case has sparked concern as it follows a series of sexual assault incidents across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In June, a woman was gang-raped in Hafizabad in front of her husband, who filed the case after a video of the attack surfaced on social media.

In August, a 21-year-old man from Haripur was allegedly gang-raped and robbed after being lured into a meeting with a woman he had met on Facebook. The suspects reportedly threatened him against reporting the crime.

Police said the ongoing investigations in these cases highlight the need for vigilance and swift legal action to address sexual violence and ensure accountability.
