FIA Takes Disciplinary Action Against Seven Officials Over Corruption and Misconduct

DG FIA chairs orderly room, vows zero tolerance for abuse of authority and negligence

The Federal Investigation Agency has taken strict departmental action against seven officers and officials found involved in corruption, abuse of authority and negligence during an orderly room chaired by Director General FIA Riffat Mukhtar Raja.

According to an FIA spokesperson, Inspector Fakhar Abbas was dismissed from service over allegations of conducting illegal raids and extortion, while Constable Ghulam Mustafa was also removed from service on similar charges of unlawful raids and bribery.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ahsan Muskeen was dismissed for allegedly taking money from a passenger at Sialkot Airport. Inspector Fahad Iqbal was awarded the penalty of promotion stoppage for two years over illegal immigration clearance at Islamabad Airport. Sub-Inspector Kiran Fareed received a one-year promotion ban for the same offence at Islamabad Airport.

Sub-Inspector Tanzil Rasool was demoted to the rank of ASI and barred from promotion for two years for illegal immigration clearance at Karachi Airport, while Sub-Inspector Waseem Ubaid was awarded a two-year promotion ban over similar allegations at Sialkot Airport.

Director General FIA Riffat Mukhtar Raja said the objective of departmental accountability was to ensure strict adherence to legal and professional standards. He stressed that corruption, misuse of authority and negligence would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The DG FIA further said that officers involved in corruption, poor investigation practices and negligence had no place in the organization. He added that a rigorous accountability process was under way to purge the institution of corrupt elements and “black sheep”.

Riffat Mukhtar Raja stated that strict action against those involved in illegal activities was essential to eliminate corruption and human smuggling, adding that negligent officers would be punished in accordance with the law.
