COAS attends Christmas celebrations at Christ Church Rawalpindi

Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterates commitment to minority rights, interfaith harmony and constitutional values

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended Christmas celebrations at Christ Church in Rawalpindi on December 25, where he joined the Christian community in commemorating the festive occasion, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The army chief extended heartfelt Christmas greetings and conveyed his best wishes for peace, harmony and prosperity to the Christian community.

Paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the founder of Pakistan’s vision of equality, freedom and religious tolerance, stressing that the protection of minority rights remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s ideology.

While interacting with the congregation, the COAS underlined the significant and enduring contributions of Pakistani Christians to national development and security, including their distinguished service in the Pakistan Armed Forces across generations.

He also emphasised the importance of interfaith harmony, mutual respect and unity, stating that Pakistan’s strength lies in its diversity, equal opportunities and shared constitutional values, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, caste or creed.

The ISPR said the army chief reaffirmed the Pakistan Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to upholding the dignity, security and equal rights of all citizens as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.

Christian community leaders expressed gratitude for the visit, acknowledging the role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding the homeland, promoting inclusivity, religious harmony and national unity.
