Shaheen Chowk Underpass enters final phase, over 95pc work completed
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa paid a late-night visit to the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project and reviewed the pace and quality of ongoing construction, inspecting various sections of the underpass.
Officials briefed the chairman that the project has entered its final stages ahead of schedule, with more than 95 per cent of the overall development work already completed. They informed him that the structural work of the underpass has been fully completed, while finishing works are progressing at a rapid pace.
The briefing further stated that landscaping and horticulture work around the project is being carried out swiftly to enhance its visual appeal, while permanent and aesthetically designed lighting is also being installed to beautify the area.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress and quality of work, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that along with speedy execution, high construction standards have been ensured. He directed the concerned departments to expedite all remaining beautification-related work and ensure its completion before the project’s inauguration.
He said the Shaheen Chowk Underpass would provide signal-free movement to students of nearby educational institutions as well as daily commuters, adding that the project would help save both fuel and travel time.
The chairman said the completion of the underpass would significantly ease traffic congestion in the federal capital and provide improved travel facilities to citizens. He reiterated that providing modern infrastructure and better commuting facilities for the residents of Islamabad remains a top priority of the authority.
