KHYBER: At least five people were killed when a car collided head-on with a truck near Bab-e-Khyber in Khyber district on Sunday, rescue officials said.

According to rescue authorities, the accident occurred on the main road when the car, reportedly travelling at high speed, crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact was severe, leaving the car badly mangled and killing all five occupants on the spot.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene after receiving information about the crash, but all five victims had already succumbed to their injuries. The bodies were later shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities, officials added.

Preliminary findings suggested overspeeding as the main cause of the accident.

The incident comes just days after another deadly road accident in Chakwal district, where five passengers lost their lives after a bus plunged into a ravine in the Dhok Pathan area on Wednesday.

Road accidents remain a frequent occurrence across Pakistan, often caused by factors such as reckless driving, poor road conditions and adverse weather.

In a similar incident in December 2025, at least 11 people were killed when a bus overturned on the M-14 Motorway near Fateh Jang. Rescue officials said the victims in that accident hailed from Bahawalpur, Vehari, Sharaqpur and Islamabad.
