ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy ships TABUK and MOAWIN successfully carried out a medical evacuation of a Sri Lankan national requiring urgent medical attention from an Indonesian-flagged vessel, MV Grey Palm, on the high seas, officials said on Sunday.

The operation was launched after a formal request was received from the Sri Lankan Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre for immediate medical assistance to a critically ill Sri Lankan crew member aboard the vessel, which was located around 800 nautical miles, or approximately 1,500 kilometres, off Pakistan’s coast.

Acting as first responders, Pakistan Navy ships were dispatched to the location and safely evacuated the patient along with an attendant. The individual was provided necessary medical treatment onboard the Pakistan Navy ship soon after evacuation.
