PM orders review of NEPRA’s new solar regulations
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken immediate notice of the new solar regulations issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
The Prime Minister instructed the Power Division to file an urgent review petition with NEPRA to safeguard the contracts of current solar consumers and ensure every possible protection for existing agreements.
He emphasized that the electricity burden of 466,000 solar users should not be transferred onto consumers relying solely on the national grid, which serves more than 37.6 million users, and directed the Power Division to formulate a comprehensive plan to address the issue.
A high-level special meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, was held today in Islamabad to discuss the issuance of the new NEPRA’s new solar regulations.
