CDA reviews progress on health units, e-libraries and rescue stations in capital

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Friday chaired a meeting at CDA headquarters to review progress on various development projects and public welfare initiatives in the federal capital.

The meeting was attended by CDA Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch and other senior officers.

Officials briefed the meeting on several ongoing initiatives aimed at improving civic facilities in Islamabad.

The meeting reviewed progress on the upgradation and renovation of Basic Health Units (BHUs) in the capital. Participants were informed that construction work on the renovation of BHUs in Sector G-13 and Golra had been completed.

Officials said that around 80% of construction and renovation work at the BHU in the Jhangi Sayedan area had been completed, while the tendering process for the construction of a BHU in Sara-e-Kharbooza was underway.

The meeting also discussed progress on the establishment of state-of-the-art e-libraries in public parks across Islamabad. Authorities informed participants that work was in progress at seven different locations to establish digital libraries aimed at providing modern learning facilities to citizens.

Participants were also briefed on the construction of the National Police Hospital.

During the meeting, officials said the CDA was also establishing four Emergency Rescue Stations to improve emergency response and ensure public safety. Land has been allocated for these facilities in I-9, I-14, G-11 and the Humak Industrial Area.

Authorities said that the process of preparing the PC-1 for the rescue stations was currently underway.

The meeting further reviewed the work of a task force formed to address water supply issues in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as progress on the Shahdara Dam Project and Dotara Dam Project.

Randhawa said the CDA remained committed to improving public services and ensuring better facilities for residents of the federal capital, adding that all available resources were being utilised to achieve this goal.
