GB leadership meets Shaza Fatima to advance digital transformation agenda
ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Yar Muhammad Nasir and GB Minister for IT Ghulam Abbas on Tuesday met Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja to discuss progress on Pakistan’s digital transformation and regional development initiatives.
During the meeting, the federal minister said the government is actively working on nationwide digital transformation in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s “Digital Nation Pakistan” vision.
She said special attention is being given to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure their inclusion in the country’s digital growth.
Both sides held detailed discussions on the Digital Nation Pakistan initiative, including the preparation and implementation of the National Digital Master Plan, and agreed to accelerate a comprehensive digitalisation strategy across the country.
The participants emphasised the need for uniform digital development in all four provinces as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, while exchanging views on adopting a coordinated approach across various sectors. The meeting also highlighted the importance of promoting the digital economy and leveraging modern technologies for sustainable growth.

The federal minister directed the Pakistan Digital Authority to formulate a comprehensive plan aimed at creating employment opportunities for youth in Gilgit-Baltistan and boosting the region’s digital economy.
Special emphasis was laid on promoting tourism through digitalisation, with both sides agreeing to enhance digital tourism initiatives to unlock the region’s potential.
The caretaker chief minister invited the federal minister to visit Gilgit-Baltistan, while the meeting concluded with consensus on joint measures to promote digital development in the region.
