Dar discusses Iran-US tensions with Chinese counterpart amid mediation efforts
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that he had spoken with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as Islamabad continues efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran.
In a statement shared on social media, Dar said both sides reaffirmed the need to restore peace and stability in the Middle East and the wider region. He added that Pakistan and China agreed on the importance of an immediate end to hostilities, resumption of peace talks, protection of civilians, and adherence to the United Nations Charter.
The development comes as Pakistan remains actively engaged in diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran. Earlier this week, Islamabad conveyed a 15-point proposal from the United States to Iran outlining conditions for a ceasefire. However, Tehran rejected the proposal, terming it “maximalist,” and presented its own set of demands.

US President Donald Trump has said he is delaying potential military action against Iran’s power facilities by 10 days, until April 6, to allow room for diplomatic engagement.
Dar noted that Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and expressed support for its efforts to promote peace in the region.
Pakistan has intensified diplomatic outreach in recent weeks, engaging key global stakeholders as part of broader efforts to de-escalate the conflict and encourage a negotiated settlement.
