Abu Dhabi detains 375 individuals for filming sensitive sites, spreading misinformation

Authorities warn against unauthorised recordings and urge reliance on official sources

ABU DHABI: Authorities in Abu Dhabi have detained 375 individuals of various nationalities for filming sensitive locations and spreading misleading information on social media, police said.

According to officials, the individuals have been referred to public prosecution for legal proceedings in line with the laws of the United Arab Emirates.

Police stated that the arrests followed violations involving unauthorised recording of restricted sites and the circulation of unverified content related to ongoing events.

Abu Dhabi Authorities emphasised that such actions breach regulations aimed at safeguarding public security and stability, warning that spreading misinformation and panic constitutes a punishable offence.

Residents were urged to rely on official sources for accurate information and to refrain from sharing rumours, with officials stressing that public cooperation is essential to maintaining safety and order.
