ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday fixed April 30 for hearing appeals filed by former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi against their convictions in the £190 million corruption reference.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will take up the pleas on Thursday.

The PTI founder and his wife had challenged their sentences after an accountability court, headed by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, handed them 14-year and seven-year prison terms respectively in January 2025.

Earlier in March, the court imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) special prosecutor for using delaying tactics in proceedings related to the same case.

In a separate development, a banking court in Islamabad has also scheduled the hearing of the prohibited funding case against Imran Khan for April 30, where authorities have submitted a charge sheet naming him as the prime accused.

Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023, is facing multiple cases ranging from corruption to terrorism following his removal from office through a no-confidence motion in April 2022.

The Al-Qadir Trust case — commonly referred to as the £190 million case — revolves around allegations that in 2019, funds worth £190 million, transferred by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to Pakistan, were adjusted in a settlement involving a property tycoon.

According to the NCA, the amount was part of a civil settlement and did not constitute a finding of guilt. However, NAB filed a reference in December 2023, alleging that the agreement was approved without disclosing details of the confidential arrangement.
