Pakistan unwavering in defending sovereignty, says PM Shehbaz on Marka-e-Haq anniversary
ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said Pakistan remained committed to peace but was equally determined to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national honour against any threat.
In a message shared on X on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, the prime minister thanked Allah Almighty and paid tribute to the courage, sacrifices and resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces and citizens.
“As the nation commemorates the glorious success of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, we thank Allah Almighty and pay tribute to the extraordinary courage, unwavering resolve, and supreme sacrifices of our armed forces and the people of Pakistan,” the premier wrote.
He said Pakistan stood united, disciplined and firm in faith in the face of aggression.
PM Shehbaz also praised the “resolute and visionary leadership” of Syed Asim Munir during Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.
According to the prime minister, the operation reflected the armed forces’ professionalism, operational capability and commitment in defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and dignity with “remarkable precision, valour and determination”.
He said Field Marshal Munir’s leadership inspired the nation and strengthened the resolve of the armed forces during a defining moment in Pakistan’s history.
The premier termed Marka-e-Haq a symbol of national unity, resilience and collective determination to safeguard Pakistan at all costs.
“Today, we salute our brave sons and daughters in uniform, whose sacrifices continue to strengthen the foundations of our security and freedom,” he added.
The prime minister further said the nation remained proud of every soldier, officer, martyr and veteran who defended the country with courage and selflessness.
Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the services chiefs also extended congratulations to the nation and armed forces on the occasion.
The statement said Field Marshal Munir, Naveed Ashraf and Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu described the day as a testament to courage, professionalism and unity.
“The armed forces stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Pakistan, reaffirming their unbreakable bond with the nation they proudly serve,” the statement said.

Ceremonies were held across the country to honour martyrs and veterans, with floral wreaths laid at memorials and prayers offered for those who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan’s security and stability.
The ISPR said Marka-e-Haq had become a defining milestone in Pakistan’s history, reflecting national resolve, military excellence and strategic maturity.
It added that Pakistan’s response during the conflict exposed adversarial conspiracies, false-flag narratives and disinformation campaigns, while strengthening the country’s position as a responsible regional stabiliser.
