RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed four terrorists belonging to India-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted in Dera Ismail Khan and Mohmand districts on the night of June 3-4, 2026, following reports of militant presence in the areas.

In Dera Ismail Khan, security forces engaged the militants’ location after receiving intelligence inputs. “After an intense exchange of fire, two khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.

In a separate operation in Mohmand district, two more militants were killed in what the military described as a “skilful engagement.”

The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, who were involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.

It added that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue with full intensity to eliminate foreign-backed militancy from the country.

Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist incidents in recent years, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, amid ongoing security challenges along the western border.

Security officials say intelligence-based operations remain a key part of efforts to dismantle militant networks and restore stability in affected regions.
