Pakistan mourns death of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani
WEB DESK: Pakistan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away at the age of 74, according to the Qatari Amiri Diwan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar conveyed their condolences to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Al Thani family, the government and the people of Qatar.
The prime minister described Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as a visionary leader who transformed Qatar into a modern and prosperous nation. He said the late Emir’s contributions to public welfare, regional peace and international cooperation would always be remembered.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with Qatar during this difficult time, adding that Sheikh Hamad’s affection and goodwill towards Pakistan would always remain a source of pride. He also prayed for the departed leader’s forgiveness and elevated status.

President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the former Emir’s services for Qatar’s development, prosperity and regional peace, and prayed for the elevation of his soul.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani played a significant role in Qatar’s progress and in strengthening Pakistan-Qatar relations. He added that the former Emir’s leadership and efforts for regional peace would always be remembered.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani served as the Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013, during which the country emerged as one of the world’s wealthiest nations.
