Hungarian PM thanks Pakistan after receiving mangoes from Shehbaz Sharif
WEB DESK: Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has thanked the government of Pakistan after receiving a consignment of mangoes sent by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to his office in Budapest.
In a post on social media, Magyar said a gift of 90 mangoes from PM Shehbaz Sharif was waiting for him at the end of what he described as a “historic day.”
The Hungarian premier contrasted the seasonal fruit with more conventional diplomatic gifts, remarking that “not everyone gives a revolver as a gift.”
According to Magyar, the gesture was warmly received by his office staff, with the consignment being consumed quickly. He said only a few mangoes remained within an hour of their arrival.

The exchange reflects the growing diplomatic relationship between Pakistan and Hungary, where bilateral cooperation has expanded in recent years through regular high-level engagements and the Pakistan-Hungary Joint Economic Commission.
Economic cooperation between the two countries is centred on trade and the energy sector, supported by long-term Hungarian investments in Pakistan’s oil and gas exploration industry.
