FBR Asks PTA to Block 0.5 Million Mobile SIMs Over Tax Evasion

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and all telecom operators to block 0.5 million mobile SIMs over tax evasion.

The FBR has issued an Income Tax General Order (ITGO) to disable the mobile phone SIMs of over 0.5 million individuals who are not appearing on the active taxpayer list but are liable to file their Income Tax Return for Tax Year 2023.

According to the ITGO, the mobile SIMs of 506,671 individuals will remain blocked until restored by FBR or the Commissioner Inland Revenue having jurisdiction over the person.

The FBR In a post on X has urged individuals to promptly address their tax obligations and file their income tax returns for Tax Year 2023 by furnishing correct declarations to get their mobile phone services restored.

A compliance report is to be furnished to FBR by May 15, 2024, positively.
