In a welcome development, fuel prices are expected to fall next week in Pakistan due to a decline in international oil prices.

According to sources, the federal government is likely to reduce the price of petrol and diesel by Rs. 3.75 per liter and Rs. 7.85 per liter, respectively, on May 1, 2024.

This downward trend is attributed to the fall in international prices of High-Speed Diesel (HSD), petrol, and crude oil, which currently stand at $104.76, $107.16, and $86 per barrel, respectively.

The Pakistani rupee has remained stable at 278 during this period.

As a result, the price of HSD is expected to decrease to Rs. 282.53 per liter in Pakistan, while MS petrol prices are likely to fall to Rs. 290.19 per liter.

This development comes after the government increased fuel prices by Rs. 4.53 per liter for petrol and Rs. 8.14 per liter for diesel in the last fortnightly review on April 15.
