Punjab CM Fixes Roti Price at Rs 16
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has fixed roti price at Rs 16 across the province.
The CM Punjab announced the decision via a social media post.

Additionally, she directed all relevant officials across the province to ensure compliance with this directive.
Subsequently, the District Commissioner (DC) issued an official notification to implement the price reduction of roti.
The notification specified that the price of a 100-gram roti had been set at Rs. 16, while a 120-gram roti would now cost Rs. 20.

However, despite the government’s decision, the Punjab nanbai associations have voiced their opposition.
They argue that they cannot sell roti at the government’s prescribed rate without receiving some form of relief.
“We are prepared to lower the price of roti if the Punjab government extends a subsidy to us,” stated Shafique Qureshi, President of the Nanbai Association.
He emphasized that considering the prevailing prices of wheat flour and LPG, they are unable to offer roti at reduced rates.
It’s important to highlight that earlier this month, the provincial cabinet of Punjab established the minimum support price of wheat for the year 2023-2024 at Rs. 3,900 per 40kg.
