US envoy says trade deal offers major boost for Pak-US economic ties
US Chargé d’Affaires in Islamabad Natalie Baker on Friday said the recently concluded trade agreement between the United States and Pakistan presents a significant opportunity to expand bilateral trade.
According to the Finance Division, Ms Baker called on Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and discussed avenues to enhance commerce, investment, and cooperation between the two countries.
The US envoy noted that American companies were showing strong interest in Pakistan’s supply chain, production, project management, energy, critical minerals, mining, and oil exploration sectors.
Mr Aurangzeb said Pakistan’s economy had “turned a corner”, pointing to a recent Moody’s upgrade — which aligned all three major international rating agencies in their assessments — as evidence of the success of government-led reforms. He highlighted the implementation of bold tariff reforms aimed at liberalising trade and steering the country towards export-led growth.
