Drone Ban Ahead of President Raisi Visit to Karachi

Security Measures Intensified in Karachi Ahead of Iranian President's Visit

In light of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi visit to Pakistan, the Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, has issued a 7-day ban on the use of drone within the Karachi division, effective from April 22 to April 28.

Drone Ban

The ban on drone cameras has been enforced under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to bolster security measures across the city.

Station House Officers (SHOs) are authorized to register complaints under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against individuals found violating the ban.

Road Closures

Temporary road closures have also been announced on April 23 across various areas of the city, including:

  • Club Road, from PIDC to Metropole
  • Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, from Ziauddin Road Bridge to PIDC Chowk
  • Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, from Khajoor Chowk to PIDC

Traffic Rerouting

To facilitate traffic rerouting, drivers are advised to follow alternative routes:

  • From Sultanabad, use Dr Ziauddin Road to access Aiwan-e-Sadr Road via Khajoor Chowk
  • From Sharea Faisal to Sultanabad, turn left at Club Chowk
  • From Khaliq-ul-Zaman Road and Ghazri, turn right at Ziauddin traffic signal and proceed towards Fawara Chowk and Aiwan-e-Sadar
  • From Shaheen Complex, turn right at Khajoor Chowk

Commissioner Naqvi has declared April 23 as a public holiday in Karachi in anticipation of President Raisi’s visit.

All private and government offices, as well as educational institutions in Karachi Division, will remain closed on Tuesday, April 23, to minimize public inconvenience and ensure a smooth reception for the Iranian delegation.
