Donald Trump says Iran unrest may be easing
WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump said he has been informed that killings linked to Iran’s crackdown on nationwide protests are easing and that there is currently no plan for large-scale executions, even as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain elevated.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had received the information from what he described as “very important sources on the other side,” without providing further details. He added that he believed the situation was showing signs of de-escalation.
The US president, however, did not rule out the possibility of military action, saying the United States would closely monitor developments. “We are going to watch what the process is,” he said, adding that Washington had received a “very good statement” from Iran.

Trump’s remarks appeared to signal a cautious easing of concerns that the crisis in Iran could spiral into a broader regional confrontation.
Earlier, in a televised interview on Monday, Donald Trump had warned that the United States would take “very strong action” if Iranian authorities proceeded with executing protesters detained during the recent wave of unrest across the country.
