Dubai to roll out off-airport check-in centres across city
DUBAI: Dubai is set to introduce off-airport check-in centres across the city, allowing passengers to complete travel formalities before arriving at the airport, authorities said.
Under the new plan by the Dubai government, travellers will be able to check in, drop off their baggage and receive boarding passes from designated locations in different parts of the city, instead of completing these procedures only at Dubai International Airport.
After finishing the process, passengers will head straight to the airport and proceed directly to boarding, a move aimed at reducing congestion at terminals and speeding up the overall travel experience.
Dubai has already implemented one of the world’s fastest immigration systems, where passengers typically clear immigration in as little as 30 seconds to six minutes through smart gates and biometric technology.

Officials said the new initiative check-in will further cut waiting times, ease crowding at the airport and enhance passenger convenience at one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs.
Dubai International Airport handles millions of travellers every year and remains a major transit hub, particularly for passengers from Pakistan and South Asia.
