Guardian Report Alleges Indian Assassinations in Pakistan
The Guardian, a prominent British newspaper, in a recent revelation, has lent credence to Islamabad’s claims by alleging that the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has purportedly sanctioned “killings” on Pakistani soil.
The accusations gained momentum in January this year when Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Syrus Qazi exposed what he described as a “sophisticated and sinister” Indian campaign involving extrajudicial killings on foreign soil.
Qazi asserted that Islamabad possessed “credible evidence” linking Indian agents to the killings of two Pakistani citizens within Pakistan’s borders.
These assertions align with separate accusations by both Canada and the United States, implicating Indian agents in assassination attempts on their respective soils.
The Guardian report alleges that the government in New Delhi has undertaken targeted assassinations in Pakistan, particularly against individuals perceived as hostile to India’s interests.
The alleged actions intensified post the 2019 Pulwama attack, with India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) reportedly executing assassinations abroad.
According to intelligence operatives cited in the report, Indian agents have been linked to the deaths of 20 individuals on Pakistani territory since 2020, with Sikh separatists associated with the Khalistan movement among the targets.
The surge in killings in Pakistan in 2023 was attributed to Indian intelligence sleeper cells, the report suggests.
Indian agents purportedly recruited individuals to carry out the shootings, deceiving them into believing they were targeting perceived adversaries.
Denying all allegations, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has dismissed them as “false and malicious anti-India propaganda.”
These revelations underscore the complexity and tensions in Pakistan-India relations, warranting careful scrutiny and diplomatic efforts to address underlying grievances and promote regional stability.
As the situation unfolds, transparency, dialogue, and adherence to international norms remain imperative for fostering trust and cooperation between the two nations.
