Italian dance group “Black Widow” mesmerises audiences at Sharjah International Book Fair 2025 with a spellbinding tribute to nature
Dubai: The 44th Sharjah International Book Fair 2025 witnessed a spectacular fusion of art and illusion as Italy’s renowned all-women dance group Black Widow took center stage with their stunning performance titled “Echoes of the Hands.” On an illuminated dark stage, a single human face followed by a wave of shimmering silver arms moved in perfect harmony — creating shapes that paid homage to nature’s beauty in all its forms.
According to Al Mudassar News Agency, the award-winning group — recipients of the Golden Buzzer on Italia’s Got Talent — captivated the crowd with their signature shapeshifting performance style, transforming hands into blooming flowers, glowing lamps, and flickering flames. The show was a special delight for schoolchildren who cheered in excitement as fifteen dancers performed their hypnotic, visually stunning movements.

The group’s creative directors, Lorenzo Piantoni and Jessica Demaria, described performing for children as a deeply rewarding experience. “Black Widow is led by the Italian dance collective Urban Theory, and our style uses arm movements to create illusions and geometric forms,” explained Piantoni. “It’s dramatic, elegant, and deeply connected to the themes of nature — today’s show symbolised fire and water, reflecting life’s natural rhythm.”
Demaria added, “This was our first time performing in Sharjah, and we were amazed by the audience’s energy and enthusiasm. The response from the crowd was simply incredible — we can’t wait to return.”
The Sharjah International Book Fair 2025, organised by the Sharjah Book Authority under the theme “Between You and a Book”, is a 12-day global cultural celebration featuring more than 300 events, 158 Arab and international guests, over 750 creative workshops, and 85 stage performances representing 12 countries.
