The foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt have welcomed steps taken by Hamas in response to a proposal by US President Donald Trump aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday, the ministers said they appreciated Hamas’ willingness to agree to terms that include halting hostilities, releasing all hostages — both alive and deceased — and beginning negotiations on implementation mechanisms.

They also welcomed President Trump’s call on Israel to immediately stop its bombing campaign and move forward with the proposed exchange agreement, praising what they described as his commitment to establishing peace in the region.

The ministers said the development presented “a real opportunity” to secure a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, while addressing the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

They further noted Hamas’ announcement of readiness to hand over Gaza’s administration to a transitional Palestinian committee of independent technocrats, urging the swift launch of negotiations to formalise mechanisms for the transition.

Reaffirming their collective support for the proposal, the ministers called for the immediate end of the conflict and the establishment of a framework ensuring unrestricted humanitarian aid, protection of civilians, no forced displacement of Palestinians, and the return of the Palestinian Authority to governance in Gaza.

They stressed that any agreement must pave the way for the reunification of Gaza and the West Bank, full Israeli withdrawal, reconstruction of Gaza, and a path toward a just peace based on the two-state solution.
