Pakistan Hosts First Education Expo in Dhaka

Over 15 Pakistani universities showcase scholarships and higher education options for Bangladeshi students under the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor.

The First Pakistan Education Expo was held in Dhaka under the joint initiative of the Pakistan High Commission and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, featuring participation from more than 15 leading Pakistani universities. The expo highlighted higher education pathways and scholarship opportunities available to Bangladeshi students.

The event marked a major step forward in the rollout of the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor, an initiative aimed at enhancing academic collaboration between the two countries. Multiple education fairs are planned across Bangladesh to raise awareness about these opportunities.

Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, attended as the chief guest. Senior officials, including Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam of the University Grants Commission, vice-chancellors, educationists, representatives from Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission, and a large number of students were also present.

Aftab Ahmed, Rector of the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, delivered the keynote address. He outlined the objectives of the Knowledge Corridor and presented details on Pakistan’s top educational institutions and the range of scholarship options available in various disciplines.

In his remarks, the chief guest described the expo as a significant move toward strengthening educational exchange between Bangladesh and Pakistan. He said the Knowledge Corridor would contribute to developing the skills of Bangladeshi youth and broadening access to quality higher education. He expressed full support for organising similar expos in Chittagong, Rajshahi and Sylhet.

High Commissioner Imran Haider noted that this expo was a fulfilment of commitments made during the visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister. He said the Knowledge Corridor would promote academic mobility, joint research initiatives, and the development of a future-ready skilled workforce. He also highlighted Pakistan’s advancements in medicine, engineering, IT, agriculture, social sciences, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.

The expo attracted a strong response from Bangladeshi students, underscoring the growing interest in educational collaboration between the two countries.
