Pakistan Showcases Rail Vision at Global Rail Conference in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI: Pakistan underscored its commitment to sustainable transport development at the Global Rail Conference and Exhibition 2025, being held in Abu Dhabi from 30 September to 2 October. The event has convened global transport ministers, policymakers, and industry leaders to shape the future of international rail connectivity.
Representing Pakistan, Mr. Kiyani shared the country’s infrastructure successes during a high-level ministerial panel titled “Building Connected Nations: The Role of Transport and Infrastructure in Sustainable Development.” He stressed that economic prosperity is directly linked to modern transport systems, noting that Pakistan’s extensive motorway network has significantly boosted national connectivity and freight movement.
He elaborated on Pakistan’s roadmap for transforming its railway sector into an efficient and environmentally sustainable transport backbone. Central to this vision, he said, is the upgradation of two major corridors—ML-1 and ML-3—which are expected to enhance regional trade, improve logistics, and align Pakistan’s rail network with global standards.
