Pakistan, US reaffirm commitment to strengthen counterterrorism partnership
Pakistan and the United States on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to work closely in multilateral fora, including the United Nations, to develop effective and enduring strategies to counterterrorism.
The resolve was expressed during the latest round of the Pakistan–US Counterterrorism Dialogue, co-chaired by Special Secretary for the United Nations Nabeel Munir and US Department of State Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory D. LoGerfo.
According to a joint statement, both sides stressed the need to address threats posed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), ISIS-Khorasan, and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Washington commended Pakistan’s efforts to curb terrorist entities threatening regional and global security.

The US delegation also conveyed condolences over civilian and law enforcement casualties in attacks, including the Jaffar Express hijacking and the bombing of a school bus in Khuzdar.
The two sides underlined the importance of strengthening institutional frameworks, enhancing response capabilities, and countering the misuse of emerging technologies for terrorist purposes.
Reaffirming their long-standing partnership, Pakistan and the US agreed that sustained and structured engagement was vital to counter terrorism and promote regional peace and stability.
