PM Condemns Israeli Plan to Take Control of Gaza
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday strongly condemned the Israeli cabinet’s approval of a plan to assume control over Gaza City, calling it an “illegal and unjustifiable” step that poses a serious threat to peace in the region.
“Peace will only remain a dream until Israel ends its occupation of Palestinian territories,” the prime minister said in a statement, adding that the latest move represented an alarming escalation in the ongoing war against the Palestinian people.
He warned that expanded military operations would further aggravate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and eliminate any prospects for a peaceful resolution.
The condemnation follows reports that Israel’s security cabinet had endorsed a military takeover of Gaza City, raising concerns among several countries and humanitarian agencies.

International reactions
The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s consistent position on the Palestine issue, affirming full support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign state.
“Pakistan reiterates its unwavering support to the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state,” Mr Sharif said, urging the international community to halt Israeli aggression and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
On the same day, China and Turkiye also voiced strong opposition to Israel’s plan. Beijing declared that Gaza “belongs to the Palestinian people,” while Ankara warned against the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
US stance draws criticism
The Israeli move comes amid renewed comments from former US president Donald Trump, who on Thursday called for all Middle Eastern countries to join the Abraham Accords as a path to regional peace. However, critics argue that his stance sidesteps the core issue—the unresolved Palestinian question—and lacks commitment to a two-state solution.
Mr Trump has reportedly opposed the France-led diplomatic initiative and has instead spoken about relocating Palestinians from Gaza to third countries, a proposal that has drawn widespread condemnation.
