Prague to Host Rare Lucy and Selam Fossil Exhibition this Autumn

Published: Aug 21, 2025 | 09:22 PM

PRAGUE: The National Museum of Prague will this autumn unveil a landmark exhibition bringing together two of the most significant fossils in human history — Lucy, the 3.2-million-year-old hominid, and Selam, her counterpart who predates her by about 100,000 years.

On loan from Ethiopia’s National Museum, the display marks the first time these world-renowned specimens will be exhibited together in Europe, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience a profound glimpse into the origins of humankind.

Set against the grandeur of the museum’s historic building, the exhibition — running from Aug 25 to Oct 25, 2025 — has been designed in an immersive style, transforming scientific discovery into an engaging and deeply human experience.

For travellers from the Middle East and beyond, the exhibition provides not only an encounter with archaeology but also an introduction to Prague’s layered cultural landscape. Visitors can explore the city’s heritage through walks along the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and Prague Castle, each steeped in centuries of history.
